Joshua 6:1 Now Jericho [a fenced town with high walls] was tightly closed because of the Israelites; no one went out or came in.

In the above scripture, the Lord promised the children of Israel the land of Jericho but the actions of the inhabitants of Jericho(shutting down of the gates), was not an indication of a promise near fulfilment as the security in Jericho was reinforced!

Identifying Your Barriers

The wall indicates a barrier. A barrier prevents or hedges an individual from the otherside. In the case of Israel the other side contained:

  • Wealth
  • Health
  • A land flowing with milk and honey The word faith as defined in the Bible is an action word. This means faith is not in words but actions. It must be backed with steps. Things to understand about faith are:

  • Faith cannot be hidden. Faith can be acknowledged Mark 2: 1 - 6. 4
  • Faith grows on the application of the Word of God. The foundation is the Word Rom 10:17(refer to the woman with issue of blood).
  • Faith can be felt and manifested.
  • Ephesians 1:15..”I heard of your faith” 2 Peter 1:5
  • You must grow in faith.
  • You must act on your faith. You cannot have faith and be stagnant. The man, Smith Wigglesworth says, "Fear hesitates but faith leaps." The woman with the issue of blood not only had faith but acted on her faith. Mk 5:27 - 28
